Communication with a Horse Through Energy

Communication with a horse through energy is based on the fact that horses react very sensitively to our presence, intentions, and emotional state. They have a strong instinct for reading the energy and body language of other beings, including humans, because as prey animals in nature, they have developed extremely sensitive senses to changes in their environment.

Here’s how energy plays a role in communicating with a horse:

Presence and calm energy: When we are calm and present in the moment, it helps the horse feel safe and relaxed. Horses easily recognize our internal state – if we are tense or nervous, they will sense it and may become agitated. Calm and stable energy, on the other hand, encourages trust and allows the horse to remain relaxed. For example, if a horse has a problem with a vet or farrier, or with riding in traffic – it is precisely in such situations that calm energy makes a difference.

Directing energy towards the horse: Conscious directing of energy is also used when working with horses. If you want the horse to move forward, you can increase your energy through body language – by raising your shoulders, using a focused gaze, and more energetic movements. The horse will sense this as an impetus to move. Conversely, if you want to calm a horse, you will lower your energy – slow your movements, relax your body, and avoid sudden changes.

Energy for establishing boundaries and respect: Horses intuitively recognize when a person has a confident demeanor and clear intentions. Through a clear but calm attitude, a trainer can set boundaries and expectations for the horse without the need for physical methods. This is achieved through focused energy and clarity of intent, which communicates to the horse to respect personal space or to respond to a specific instruction.

Synchronizing energy with the horse: Horses are naturally inclined to seek harmony within the herd, so they will often synchronize with a person who has a calm and stable energy flow. When we are in a peaceful and relaxed state, the horse will adapt to that energy, which contributes to bonding and better performance. Trainers often use this synchronization to achieve a shared rhythm in movement and exercises with the horse.

Intuition and reading equine energy: People who spend a lot of time with horses develop their own intuition and ability to read equine signals, including energy levels. Over time, a trainer can assess how the horse is feeling and adjust their approach accordingly, which increases the effectiveness of communication and reduces stress for the horse.

Conclusion: Communication through energy helps achieve harmony, safety, and effectiveness when working with a horse. Calm, consistent energy shows the horse that we are reliable partners, while consciously directing energy allows for better control and cooperation.

All trainers who have understood this way of working achieve much better results.
